Stainless Steel Welding

CD Contracting cuts, welds and finishes stainless steel for a range of applications. Whether you need equipment for a food processing plant or a custom stainless steel item, we can complete the job and send our mobile welders to your premises.

Stainless steel is an alloy of iron that contains at least 10.5% chromium, as the New Zealand Stainless Steel Development Association puts it. The chromium is what lets it resist rust, which is why it is the usual choice for food processing equipment and for anything that is washed down or left out in the weather. It also means a weld, and the metal either side of it, has to be cleaned up and finished properly, because that is where corrosion starts if it is not.

Aluminium Welding

Choose CD Contracting as your aluminium welding service provider. Our experienced welders can take on any project, big or small. No matter where you are in Waikato, you can access our full range of welding services. Our team is always ready to respond to your queries or service requests. Call us anytime!

Aluminium is light and does not rust, which makes it common on truck decks, trailers, toolboxes and tanks. It is less forgiving to weld than steel: it carries heat away quickly, and it has to be clean before the arc is struck.

MIG, TIG and ARC

We weld with MIG, TIG and ARC, and choose the process to suit the metal, its thickness and where the job is. As a general guide, TIG gives the most control on thin stainless and aluminium, MIG is quicker on longer runs, and ARC welding copes best with wind and rough conditions on a site.

Plastic and other materials

We can weld a variety of materials, including plastic, stainless steel and aluminium, and we fabricate in mild steels and high tensile steels as well. If you are not sure what a part is made of, show it to us or describe it and we will tell you whether it can be repaired.

Cut, fold and fabricate

Welding is rarely the whole job. We cut, weld, fold and fabricate, and our 4.2m brake press folds long sections in one piece. For complete builds see steel fabrication; for repairs to trucks, trailers and machines see automotive and machinery welding.

What affects the cost

Three things mostly: the metal and how thick it is, how much preparation and finishing the job needs, and whether we do it in Tokoroa or at your premises. Tell us what the item is, what it is made of if you know, and what it has to do, and we can give you a price.

Questions about stainless and aluminium welding

Can you weld stainless steel at my premises?

Yes. Tell us about your project and we will send our mobile welders to your premises.

Do you weld aluminium on trucks and trailers?

Yes. Aluminium welding and truck and trailer repairs are both on our list of services.

Can a welded part be painted afterwards?

Yes. We also offer sandblasting and painting, so a repaired or newly fabricated steel part can be blasted and painted before it goes back into service.
